I have always believed that emotional health is just as important as physical health. I have always believed that a client should be part of the team when decisions are made regarding their health. They have a voice and their carers should listen to what they have to say. I am thrilled that these ideas are being recognized and taught to our future healthcare professionals. If one is going into the healthcare profession, they should do so with humility, compassion, integrity, and because they have a genuine desire to care for people. How a client is feeling emotionally during their health journey really effects their ability to physical heal and move on to a higher quality of life.
My Values-
The things I value most in life are kindness, love, laughter, and knowledge. I try to convey and experience these values in my everyday life. I value my family and bonding with people in meaningful ways that nuture genuine connection. I believe that we are losing that ability in our current society. In the work place, I value a healthy work culture in which we can feel safe to ask questions and in which we value each other's differences in skills and abilities. We are all on the same team and are working towards accomplishing the same goals. "Many hands make light work" I always say. I also value knowledge and integrity. I believe a true leader will always share their knowledge and conduct themselves with integrity which sets a positive example for the rest and benefits everyone.
Personal Goal Statement-
My goal as an LPN is to provide high quality care in a safe and competent manner and to enhance the lives of my clients in purposeful and meaningful ways. I will treat them with the dignity and respect they deserve. I have the benefit of life experience as a mature student to adapt to challenges as they present themselves, excellent critical thinking skills, and the drive to keep building on my knowledge and skills so that I will be successful in my endeavor to become the nurse that I would want my loved one to have.
Standards of Practice-
Standards of practice are so very important in the profession of nursing. They are guidelines that will help me guage and compare the quality of my care to my clients and whether I am providing that care in a safe and competent manner. They will help me to recognize if improvements can be made to provide the best possible health and wellness outcomes, to maintain the trust and respect of my clients, and are the framework of what we do as nurses. The LPN Standards of Practice align with my personal philosophy in that it will ensure that I hold my self accountable and conduct myself with integrity at all times to provide the best possible care to my clients.
